Shopify development: questions and answers

135 questions, answered by WavX Solutions. More on this topic: www.wavxsolutions.in/services/shopify.

what do i need ready before setting up a shopify store

Six things: a domain you control, product data in a spreadsheet (titles, variants, prices, SKUs, weights), product photos, your tax registration details, a payment gateway account in the business's name, and your shipping rates or courier account. Return, privacy and shipping policies must also exist before checkout goes live. Collecting these first is what keeps a store build short; missing product data and pending gateway verification are the two most common reasons a launch date slips.

What does a developer actually do during Shopify store setup that I can't do myself from the admin?

A developer handles the parts the Shopify admin does not expose: theme code in Liquid, custom sections, product pages driven by metafields, tracking that fires correctly through checkout, redirects from an old site, and integrations with couriers, accounting or an ERP. Taxes, shipping zones, payment gateways, domains and policies are configuration, and a careful store owner can do those alone. If your store needs only configuration and a ready theme, you may not need a developer at all.

shopify store setup india what is included

A basic Shopify template setup from WavX starts at ₹25,000, with a published range of ₹25,000–₹75,000. For an Indian business that normally covers the domain connection, theme installation and styling, product and collection upload, INR pricing with GST settings, Razorpay for UPI, cards and wallets, cash on delivery rules, courier integration through Shiprocket or Delhivery, policy pages, and GA4 and Meta Pixel tracking. Custom theme code, apps and ERP or Tally links are separate scope. The setup price is open to discussion, especially for a small catalogue.

I'm launching a small skincare brand from New Jersey with 12 products and I've never used Shopify. Should I set it up myself on a paid theme or hire a developer? If I used an India-based team like WavX, what would they take off my plate and when would we talk?

With 12 products, setting up on a paid theme yourself is reasonable; hire a developer for the parts that go wrong quietly. Those are tracking that records purchases correctly, subscription or bundle logic, a product page built around ingredients and routines, and sales tax settings for the states where your accountant says you must collect. WavX handles that setup and custom theme work. Its working day is 12:30 AM–9:30 AM Eastern in summer and 11:30 PM–8:30 AM in winter, so calls fit your early morning.

can a bought shopify theme be customised later or do i have to start over

A bought theme can be customised heavily, so you do not have to start over. A developer can edit its Liquid, add new sections, change the product page layout and connect metafields. The catch is updates: once the code is edited, new versions from the theme vendor no longer apply cleanly and changes have to be merged by hand. When the edits pile up to the point where little of the original remains, a custom theme becomes the cleaner and cheaper thing to maintain.

What is Liquid in Shopify and do I need to know it to run my store?

Liquid is the templating language Shopify themes are written in; it pulls products, prices, collections and customer data into the HTML a shopper sees. You do not need to know it to run a store, because the theme editor covers day-to-day changes such as banners, text, menus and section order. Liquid matters when you want something the editor cannot do: a new section type, a different product page structure, conditional content, or a fix for slow theme code.

why do custom shopify theme quotes vary so much between agencies in india

Quotes differ because agencies mean different things by a custom theme. One restyles a bought theme; another designs in Figma and codes every template from a blank file. WavX prices those separately: adjusting a bought theme starts at ₹15,000 (range ₹15,000–₹40,000), and a custom-designed store starts at ₹1,50,000 (range ₹1,50,000–₹4,50,000). Template count, custom sections, animation, product loading and tracking also sit inside or outside each price. Ask for a written list of templates and exclusions. WavX's figures are negotiable after a free consultation at /contact.

I run a homeware brand in Manchester on a bought Shopify theme. Desktop converts fine but mobile product pages are cluttered with app widgets and feel slow. A local agency wants to rebuild everything. Should I commission a custom theme or get the current one cleaned up, and is an Indian team workable from the UK?

Get the current theme audited before agreeing to a rebuild; cluttered mobile product pages are usually an app and layout problem, not a theme problem. The check is which widgets earn their place, which scripts load on every page, and whether the product template can be restructured for small screens. Rebuild only if the theme code is too tangled to change safely. An Indian team is workable: WavX's day runs 4:30 AM–1:30 PM GMT, or 5:30 AM–2:30 PM in British Summer Time, so mornings overlap.

Does WavX Solutions build Shopify themes from scratch or modify purchased themes?

New storefronts from WavX are custom Liquid themes written to the client's design, whether that arrives as a Figma file, a sketch or a reference website; the company states that every build is custom code, not a template. For a store already running on a purchased theme, the same team can carry out speed work, fixes and maintenance on the existing code. Which route applies is settled in the free consultation at /contact, and the client owns the resulting theme code.

Can a store upgrade from a standard Shopify plan to Shopify Plus without being rebuilt?

Upgrading to Shopify Plus is a plan change on the same store, so nothing is rebuilt. Products, customers, orders, the theme, apps and URLs stay exactly where they are. What changes is what becomes available afterwards: deeper checkout customisation, native B2B features, more automation and higher API capacity. A brand can therefore launch on a standard plan with a clean theme and move up later, then add checkout or wholesale work as a separate project once the plan allows it.

We're a Delhi ethnic wear brand doing about 4,000 orders a month on standard Shopify. Our agency keeps pushing Shopify Plus. All we really want is a nudge from COD to prepaid at checkout and a portal for boutique resellers. Is Plus justified for just those two things?

Not automatically; both needs have a non-Plus route, so price the two paths before upgrading. A prepaid nudge can be done with an automatic discount for online payment, messaging in the cart, and payment rules from an app that hides or charges for COD by pincode or order value. Reseller ordering can run on customer tags with a wholesale price list. Plus becomes justified when you want your own logic inside checkout or native B2B company accounts with payment terms. WavX can scope both options side by side at /contact.

We're on a standard Shopify plan with steady sales and two expansion ideas: a wholesale portal and a second store for the Middle East. Our finance lead wants to know when Shopify Plus pays for itself. How should we work that out?

Plus pays for itself when the features you would actually use replace costs or add revenue greater than the difference in plan fees. List what you would switch on: native B2B instead of a wholesale app, an expansion store instead of a second subscription, checkout changes that lift prepaid share or order value, and automation that removes manual work. Put a monthly figure on each from your own numbers and compare the total with the plan difference on Shopify's current pricing. If only one item applies, staying put usually wins.

What is a headless Shopify store, in plain words?

A headless Shopify store keeps Shopify for products, cart, checkout, payments and orders, but replaces the theme with a separately built front end, usually in React using Shopify's Hydrogen framework or Next.js. The front end fetches data from Shopify through its Storefront API. The gain is full control over design, page structure and speed. The cost is that the theme editor and most storefront app widgets no longer apply, so changes that were once a setting now need a developer.

headless shopify cost india

A headless Shopify build costs noticeably more than a theme build; WavX quotes headless after a free consultation, while a custom-designed theme store starts at ₹1,50,000, range ₹1,50,000–₹4,50,000. The difference comes from coding the whole front end, rebuilding features apps gave the theme such as reviews, search and wishlists, hosting, a content system for marketing, and ongoing developer time; the Shopify subscription still applies. For an Indian brand, check first whether a custom Liquid theme solves the problem, usually the lighter spend. Price is open to discussion; scope it at /contact.

hydrogen vs next.js for headless shopify

Hydrogen is Shopify's own React framework, with cart, customer and Storefront API helpers built in and hosting available on Shopify's side, so it is the shorter road when the site is purely a store. Next.js is general-purpose and fits better when the store shares a site with heavy editorial content, a customer portal or other applications, or when your team already works in Next.js. Both produce a fast server-rendered storefront; the choice is about what else the site must do. WavX builds in both.

Our Shopify store does well, but marketing wants richer landing pages and a developer has suggested going fully headless with Hydrogen. We have 300 products and no in-house developers. Is headless the right call, or is there a lighter option?

With 300 products and no in-house developers, headless is the wrong call; every later change would need outside development. The lighter option is a custom Liquid theme with flexible landing-page sections your marketing team can assemble in the theme editor, backed by metaobjects for reusable content blocks. That delivers richer pages while keeping apps and the editor working. Headless earns its cost when you have several brands on one back end, a content-heavy site, or performance targets a theme cannot reach.

Do Shopify apps keep working on a headless Hydrogen storefront?

Back-office apps keep working on a headless storefront; storefront apps mostly do not. Apps for inventory, shipping, accounting or ERP sync talk to Shopify's admin and are unaffected. Apps that inject widgets into a theme, such as reviews, upsells, popups, wishlists and size guides, have nothing to inject into, so each needs an API-based integration or a custom replacement in the new front end. Checkout stays on Shopify, so payment and checkout apps continue as before.

how long does a headless shopify build take compared to a theme

A headless build takes longer than a theme build for the same store, because the front end, search, cart behaviour, content editing and app replacements are all coded instead of configured. The gap widens with every storefront app that must be rebuilt. WavX publishes 4–6 weeks for a typical simple website and 3–6 months for complex e-commerce; a headless Shopify project would normally sit nearer the second figure than the first, and the actual timeline is fixed in the scope after discovery.

shopify app store app vs custom app when to build your own

Use an App Store app when the need is common, such as reviews, email or basic upsells, and build your own when the logic is specific to your business. Signs that a custom app is due: you pay for several apps that overlap, an app slows the storefront, you bend your process to fit the app's settings, data must flow into your own systems, or no app does the job. A custom app runs only on your store and its code can belong to you.

shopify app development cost india

WavX has no published price for Shopify apps; it quotes after a free consultation, because scope decides the cost. The drivers are whether the app needs a storefront interface or only back-office logic, how many outside systems it connects (ERP, courier, WhatsApp), order and catalogue volume, use of Shopify Functions or checkout extensions, and the admin screens staff need. A private app for one store costs less than a public App Store app, so most brands start there. The quote is negotiable and can be phased, one integration first; write to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

We sell auto accessories on Shopify from Pune and pay for seven apps: bundles, COD verification, pincode checker, GST invoices, reviews, WhatsApp notifications and loyalty. The monthly app bill keeps climbing and the store is slow. Would one custom app replacing some of these make sense, and which ones?

Replacing four of the seven makes sense: the pincode checker, COD verification rules, GST invoices and bundles are simple logic specific to how you sell, and one custom app can run them with a single storefront script. Keep reviews and loyalty, which are mature products, and keep WhatsApp with its provider but trigger messages from the custom app. Compare the build plus hosting and maintenance against two or three years of cancelled subscriptions. WavX builds this as your own software, fully custom, with a pricing model that fits you; write to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

Where is a custom Shopify app built by WavX Solutions hosted, and who controls it?

A custom Shopify app's server code is not hosted by Shopify; it runs on a cloud account, and WavX deploys on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure with CI/CD, monitoring and backups. The client owns 100% of the source code and IP, so the repository and cloud account can sit under the client's own name, with the app installed only on the client's store. That arrangement means another developer can take over the app later without WavX's involvement.

what can you customise in shopify checkout without plus

Without Plus you can brand the checkout (logo, colours, fonts), choose which fields are required, set tipping, policies and order notes, and use apps for discount logic and for hiding or reordering payment and delivery options. Changing the checkout's layout or adding your own blocks inside it, such as custom fields, upsell offers or trust banners, is reserved for Shopify Plus. Shopify moves this line from time to time, so confirm current capabilities before budgeting for checkout work.

Can I hide cash on delivery for certain pin codes or big orders on my Shopify checkout?

COD can be hidden by pincode, cart value, product type or customer history using payment rules that run inside Shopify's checkout, set up through an app or a custom Shopify Function. Common rules for Indian stores are no COD above a set order value, no COD for pincodes with high return rates, and no COD for first-time buyers of expensive items. Apps built on the same rules can also add a COD handling fee or ask for a part payment in advance through your gateway.

We're on Shopify Plus and want three checkout changes: a gift-message field, a delivery-date picker for our cakes, and a free gift added automatically above a cart value. How is each of these built, and which need a developer?

All three are standard Plus checkout work; the date picker certainly needs a developer, and the other two may not. The gift-message field is a checkout UI extension that saves the text to the order, which an existing app or a developer can provide. The delivery-date picker is also an extension, but it needs custom logic for cut-off times, blocked dates and daily capacity, so it becomes a small custom app. The free gift is the simplest: an automatic buy-X-get-Y discount, or a Shopify Function if the rule is more involved.

cash on delivery fee shopify saudi arabia how to add

A COD fee is added through an app or a custom Shopify Function, because Shopify's manual cash-on-delivery payment method has no built-in surcharge. For a Saudi store the usual setup shows the fee in SAR next to the COD option, limits COD by city or order value, and promotes mada, Apple Pay and instalment options as the cheaper choice so fewer orders are refused at the door. Make sure the fee appears on the Arabic checkout and on the tax invoice your accountant expects.

Is Shopify checkout customisation by WavX Solutions limited to Shopify Plus stores?

Checkout customisation is listed by WavX as a Shopify Plus service, because Shopify itself reserves deeper checkout changes for that plan. On Plus, the work uses checkout extensions and Shopify Functions for fields, upsells, payment and delivery rules. On other plans WavX works on what surrounds checkout: the cart, discount structure, payment gateway setup, branding and tracking. A store that needs custom checkout logic on a standard plan would hear that in the consultation, along with the alternatives.

How do subscriptions work on Shopify — is it built in or do I need an app?

Subscriptions on Shopify need an app, either Shopify's own subscription app, a third-party one, or a custom app built on Shopify's subscription APIs. The app attaches selling plans to products, such as deliver every month at a set discount. Customers still pay through the normal Shopify checkout, and the app then handles renewals, skips, pauses, failed-payment retries and a customer portal. Your payment gateway must support stored payment methods for recurring charges, which is the first thing to confirm.

I run a coffee subscription out of Portland with about 3,000 active subscribers on a third-party subscription app. We want to switch apps, or build our own portal, without making everyone re-enter their card. Is that possible, and how would an India-based team fit our hours?

Switching without re-entering cards is usually possible, because card details are stored with the payment processor, not with the subscription app. If your subscriptions already run through Shopify's checkout, the contracts can be moved to another app or a custom portal by API. Older setups with a separate checkout need a token transfer between processors, which takes longer. Move a small cohort first and avoid billing dates. WavX's day is 9:30 PM–6:30 AM Pacific in summer, 8:30 PM–5:30 AM in winter, so calls fall in your evening.

Can WavX Solutions set up subscriptions and recurring orders on a Shopify store?

Subscription and recurring-order setup is one of the listed capabilities in WavX's Shopify service. The work covers selling plans on products, configuring a subscription app or building a custom one, the customer portal for skips, pauses and swaps, renewal and failed-payment notifications by email or WhatsApp, and the gateway setup recurring charges depend on, including Razorpay for Indian stores. Scope and price follow a free consultation at /contact, since WavX does not publish a fixed Shopify price.

shopify wholesale separate store or same store as retail

Keep wholesale on the same store when the catalogue is shared and only prices, minimums and payment terms differ; that is what Shopify's B2B features and customer-specific price lists are for. Open a separate store when wholesale buyers need a different catalogue, different tax handling or a different look, or when you cannot risk retail shoppers seeing trade prices. The cost of two stores is duplication: two sets of products, two themes and stock that must be synced between them.

Can wholesale buyers on my Shopify store enter their GST number and get a proper tax invoice?

Wholesale buyers can enter a GSTIN, but it takes setup, because Shopify does not collect or print it by default. The number is captured on the trade registration form or company profile and stored against the customer, ideally with a format check. A GST invoicing app or a custom app then prints it on the invoice with HSN codes and the CGST, SGST or IGST split, depending on the buyer's state. Shopify's standard order confirmation is not a tax invoice.

I supply packaged snacks to about 200 kirana stores and distributors across Uttar Pradesh and take orders on WhatsApp and phone. I want them to order online at their own price slabs, with credit for reliable buyers. Can Shopify handle this, or do I need something custom?

Shopify can handle slab pricing and login-only ordering for 200 buyers, so start there unless credit is the heart of your business. Each buyer gets an account tied to a price list, plus a quick-order page for repeat orders. Credit is the weak point: simple pay-later terms work, but credit limits, outstanding balances, scheme discounts and a ledger matching Tally need a custom app or custom B2B portal. WavX builds that as your own software, fully custom, with a pricing model that fits you; details at /contact.

Can a Shopify B2B store built by WavX Solutions sync wholesale orders to Tally or Zoho?

Tally and Zoho are both on the list of integrations WavX names, and ERP, CRM and accounting integration is part of its Shopify service. For a B2B store the sync usually runs through a custom app: wholesale orders, buyer GSTINs, tax splits and payment status go to the accounting system, and stock and price lists come back. What is mapped, how often it runs and how failures are reported are written into the scope before development starts; ask at /contact.

How do I stop retail customers from seeing my wholesale prices on Shopify?

Tie wholesale prices to approved accounts so they never exist on the public storefront. Trade buyers apply, you approve them, and their login is linked to a price list or customer tag; everyone else sees retail prices. Avoid the shortcuts that leak: hidden collections reachable by URL, duplicate wholesale products left visible to search engines, or trade prices stored in public metafields. A developer should also check that the theme does not print trade prices into page code for logged-out visitors.

shopify native checkout vs third party one click checkout india

Shopify's native checkout is the safer default; a third-party one-click checkout is worth testing only if COD returns and address errors are your main problem. The one-click tools popular with Indian D2C brands replace Shopify's checkout page with their own, prefill addresses after a mobile OTP and add COD risk checks. In exchange, your tracking, discount logic and some apps must be reworked to fit, and you depend on one more vendor at the most sensitive step. Test on a share of traffic before switching fully.

I run a gold jewellery brand in Jaipur with about 800 SKUs on Shopify. Prices have to change every morning with the gold rate, and customers ask for a break-up of gold value, making charges and GST. Right now my team edits prices by hand. How can this be automated?

Automate it with a small custom app that recalculates every price from stored data. Each product carries metafields for metal weight, purity, making charge and stone value; each morning the app takes the day's gold rate, computes the new price for all 800 SKUs and updates Shopify through the API. The theme reads the same metafields to show the break-up of gold value, making charges and GST. Decide in advance what happens to carts created at yesterday's rate. WavX builds custom Shopify apps like this; share details at /contact.

shopify developer gurgaon what to check before hiring

Check five things before hiring a Shopify developer: live stores they built, opened on your own phone; who will own the theme code, apps and accounts; whether they work through collaborator access instead of your owner login; whether changes are made on a duplicate theme before going live; and a written scope with milestones and post-launch support. WavX is based in Gurgaon, writes custom Liquid themes and apps, and hands over full ownership of the code. You can start at /contact.

shopify store cost india one time vs monthly what all do i pay for

WavX's one-time build price for Shopify starts at ₹25,000 for a basic template setup (range ₹25,000–₹75,000), ₹15,000 for adjusting a bought theme, and ₹1,50,000 for a custom-designed store. Other one-time items are product upload, integrations and any custom app. Recurring costs are the Shopify subscription, paid apps, payment gateway charges per order, the domain, and maintenance if you want a developer on call; Shopify's own fees are on its pricing page. Starting on a template keeps the first outlay small. WavX's figure is negotiable and quoted in INR at /contact.

Does WavX Solutions publish a fixed price for Shopify store development?

WavX publishes starting prices rather than a fixed price: a basic Shopify template setup from ₹25,000 (range ₹25,000–₹75,000), adjusting a bought theme from ₹15,000 (range ₹15,000–₹40,000), and a custom-designed store from ₹1,50,000 (range ₹1,50,000–₹4,50,000). Where a project lands depends on templates, data migration, courier, ERP or accounting integrations, any custom app, and Shopify Plus checkout work. These figures are a starting point, not a quote, and they are open to discussion. Engagements can be fixed-price, time-and-materials or hybrid; requests go to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

I'm starting a D2C candle brand from Indore with about ₹1.5 lakh set aside for the website. 40 products, Razorpay, Shiprocket, and Instagram ads from day one. Is custom Shopify development realistic at that budget, or should I begin on a bought theme?

Begin on a bought theme: WavX adjusts one from ₹15,000 (range ₹15,000–₹40,000) and a full template setup starts at ₹25,000, while a custom-designed store starts at ₹1,50,000, the whole of your budget. For 40 products before you have sales data, a custom theme is hard to justify. Put the money into Razorpay and COD rules, Shiprocket, and Meta Pixel with Conversions API so ads optimise on real purchases; conversion tracking is an ₹8,000 add-on. Move to custom once revenue shows what to fix. Price is negotiable, so name your budget in the consultation.

how many days to launch shopify store in india with razorpay and shiprocket

The store itself can be ready in days; approvals are what set the launch date. Razorpay needs business KYC and website checks before live payments switch on, Shiprocket needs pickup addresses and courier activation, and both want policy pages already published. Product data and photos are the other common delay. On a ready theme with those in hand, launch is quick. WavX publishes as little as 7 days for a focused website and 4–6 weeks for a typical simple one, with custom themes taking longer.

What is WavX Solutions' typical timeline for a Shopify store build?

No Shopify-specific timeline is published by WavX. Its published figures are as little as 7 days for a focused website, 4–6 weeks for a typical simple website and 3–6 months for complex e-commerce, and a Shopify project falls on that scale according to scope. A ready theme with standard setup is at the short end; a custom theme, a migration, ERP integration or a custom app push it out. The timeline is fixed with milestones after discovery; ask at /contact.

Can I change the design midway through a Shopify build, or am I stuck with what was agreed?

You can change it, but when you ask decides what it costs. WavX's process puts wireframes and Figma prototypes before any code, and changes at that stage are cheap. Once templates are coded, a design change means rework, which under a fixed-price contract is normally treated as a change request with its own cost and time. If you expect to keep adjusting, a time-and-materials or hybrid engagement fits better. Regular demos during development exist so surprises surface early.

Is WavX Solutions an official Shopify Partner or certified Shopify agency?

WavX does not publish a Shopify Partner badge or any Shopify certification, so a buyer should not assume one. What it does state is the work it performs: custom Liquid themes, Hydrogen headless storefronts, custom and private apps, checkout customisation on Shopify Plus, migrations, integrations and maintenance, with the client owning the code. If partner status matters for your procurement process, ask directly at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in and judge the answer alongside the scope, the demos and the ownership terms.

woocommerce to shopify migration what data can be moved

Products, variants, images, collections, customers, order history, blog posts, pages and discount codes can all be moved from WooCommerce to Shopify, by CSV import, a migration app or the API. Reviews move through whichever review app you choose. What does not move: customer passwords, the WordPress theme, and anything a plugin did, such as bookings, custom fields or memberships, which must be rebuilt with Shopify apps, metafields or a custom app. URLs change too, so every old address needs a redirect.

Will my customers have to make new passwords when I move my store to Shopify?

Yes, passwords cannot be carried over, because your old platform stores them in a scrambled form that Shopify cannot read. Customer accounts, addresses and order history do move. After the switch, customers either receive an account-activation email or simply sign in with a one-time code sent to their email, depending on which account type the store uses. Tell customers before the move, and time the invitation emails so they do not land in the middle of a sale.

shopify url structure after migration /product/ to /products/ redirects

Shopify fixes its URL patterns, so product pages live under /products/, categories under /collections/, and pages and blog posts under their own prefixes, and you cannot change that. Every old URL therefore needs a 301 redirect to its new address. Export the old URLs from your sitemap and analytics, map each to the matching Shopify handle, and import the list in bulk. Include category pages, blog posts, old PDF links, and URLs with tracking parameters that still receive traffic.

I run a swimwear label in Melbourne on WooCommerce with about 600 products and five years of orders. We take Afterpay and show GST-inclusive prices. I want to be on Shopify before summer. What order should the migration happen in, and can an Indian team work around my hours?

Work in this order: map every WooCommerce URL, build the theme on a development store, import products, then customers, then orders, set tax-inclusive AUD pricing, Afterpay and shipping, test with real orders, then freeze the old store, import the last few days of data and switch the domain with redirects live. Allow buffer before summer; do not cut over in the week of a sale. WavX's day runs 2:30 PM–11:30 PM AEST (3:30 PM–12:30 AM during daylight saving), so your afternoons overlap.

I manage e-commerce for an electronics retailer in Doha. We're on an ageing Magento install with about 4,000 SKUs, Arabic and English storefronts and prices in QAR. Management wants us on Shopify within three months. Is that realistic, and what would decide it?

Three months is achievable only with a frozen scope; WavX publishes 3–6 months for complex e-commerce, so you are at the tight end. Four things decide it: how clean the 4,000 SKUs and their Arabic translations are, how many custom Magento extensions must be replaced by apps or custom code, whether an ERP or POS must be connected at launch, and redirects for both language versions. A right-to-left theme adds design and testing time. WavX's hours are 7:30 AM–4:30 PM in Qatar, a full working-day overlap.

Can I move my store from Wix to Shopify and keep my domain and my Google rankings?

The domain moves with you, and rankings can be protected though not promised. You keep the domain by pointing its DNS at Shopify, or transferring it out of Wix first if Wix is the registrar. Rankings depend on redirecting every Wix URL to its Shopify equivalent and carrying over page titles, descriptions, headings and content. Products export from Wix as a spreadsheet and images are re-uploaded. Expect some movement in search results for a few weeks while Google re-reads the site.

migrate order history to shopify old orders import

Old orders can be imported into Shopify as historical records, through the API or a migration app, since the standard CSV import does not cover orders. Each one arrives with its customer, items, totals and dates, so lifetime value, support lookups and segmentation keep working. They are records only: no payment is taken, original gateway transactions are not recreated, and notifications must be switched off during import so customers are not emailed about purchases from years ago. Keep the old order numbers in a tag or note.

Our furniture store in Johannesburg runs on a custom PHP site built in 2019, about 1,200 products and 18,000 customers. The developer who hosts it is hard to reach; we have admin access and a database backup. We take PayFast and price in rand. What can actually be migrated to Shopify from that?

A database backup is enough to move almost everything: products, variants, customers, addresses and order history can be extracted by script and loaded into Shopify. Images come from the live site if you have no server access. Passwords do not transfer, and URLs must be crawled now, while the site is up, to build redirects. Before anything else, confirm the domain is registered in your name. Rand pricing and a South African gateway are set up fresh. WavX's hours are 6:30 AM–3:30 PM SAST, covering your working day.

how long does shopify migration take and will my store go down

Your store does not need to go down; the Shopify store is built alongside the old one and the switch is a DNS change. The only pause is a short order freeze on the old site while the final days of orders and customers are imported. Duration depends on catalogue size, how messy the data is, how many custom features need rebuilding and whether the design changes. WavX publishes 3–6 months for complex e-commerce; a small catalogue on a ready theme takes far less.

Which platforms does WavX Solutions migrate to Shopify from?

WavX names WooCommerce, Magento and custom-built carts as the platforms it migrates to Shopify and Shopify Plus, and the same process applies to hosted builders such as Wix. A migration covers product, customer and order data, URL redirects and metadata mapping so existing search traffic has a path to the new pages. Features that lived in plugins or custom code are rebuilt with apps, metafields or a custom app. Scope and price are set after a free consultation at /contact.

Is it risky to migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify right before the Diwali sale season?

It is risky, and the usual advice is to finish well before the festive rush or wait until after it. A migration changes every URL, resets what ad platforms have learned from your pixel, and puts your team on an unfamiliar admin, and search rankings can wobble for a few weeks. Any one of those during your highest-revenue weeks is expensive. If the old site is failing and you must move, freeze design changes, migrate early, and run a small sale first as a rehearsal.

shopify vs woocommerce india which is better for small business

For a small Indian business with no technical person, Shopify is usually the easier choice; WooCommerce suits those who already run WordPress and have a developer on call. Shopify is hosted, so security, updates and uptime are handled for a monthly fee. WooCommerce is a free plugin, but hosting, updates, backups and plugin conflicts are yours to manage. Both support Razorpay, UPI, COD and Shiprocket. Compare the yearly total including apps or plugins, hosting and developer time, not the sticker price alone.

shopify orders not matching tally sales entries

Mismatches between Shopify and Tally almost always come from events the sync ignores. Check refunds and cancellations after the entry was posted, COD orders booked on order date but paid on remittance, shipping charges and gateway fees with no mapped ledger, tax rounding across CGST, SGST and IGST, partial fulfilments, and duplicates created by retries. The fix is to post on one defined event, map every ledger, use the Shopify order ID as a unique key, and run a daily reconciliation report that lists differences.

Our operations team runs SAP Business One and wants Shopify orders to appear there within a minute, with stock flowing back. IT says a nightly batch is safer. Which approach is right for a store doing around 300 orders a day?

Use both, split by data type. Orders should go to SAP in near real time, triggered by Shopify webhooks and passed through a queue that retries on failure, so nothing is lost if SAP is briefly unavailable. Stock should flow back frequently for fast sellers and in a scheduled batch for the full catalogue. Prices and product master data are fine nightly. At 300 orders a day the volume is small; the design question is error handling and which system is the master for each field.

We run a Shopify store plus three offline shops in Jaipur, with stock managed in Zoho Inventory. Online orders sometimes sell pieces already sold in a shop. How should the stock sync be designed so this stops?

Make Zoho Inventory the single master for stock and push every change to Shopify within minutes, not nightly. Map each shop and the warehouse as separate locations so Shopify knows what is where, switch off selling when out of stock, and hold back a small buffer on fast-moving or one-of-a-kind pieces. The sync needs retries and an alert when an update fails, because silent failures are what cause overselling. Zoho is among the integrations WavX names, and this is normally built as a custom app; scope it at /contact.

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API for my Shopify store or is the normal WhatsApp Business app enough?

The WhatsApp Business app is enough while one person answers chats by hand; you need the API once messages should send themselves. The API is what allows automatic order confirmations, shipping updates, COD confirmation, abandoned-cart reminders, several agents on one number and chatbots. It works through an approved provider, uses pre-approved message templates and requires customer opt-in. For an Indian store where many buyers prefer WhatsApp to email, order updates over the API are usually the first automation worth adding.

We use HubSpot for B2B sales and Shopify for our online store, and the two don't share customer data. Marketing wants abandoned carts and order history inside HubSpot. Is the ready-made connector enough, or should we build a custom integration?

Start with the ready-made connector; it covers what marketing asked for. Standard connectors sync customers, orders, products and abandoned carts into HubSpot and are quick to switch on. Build a custom integration only when you hit their limits: mapping Shopify B2B companies to HubSpot companies, syncing metafields, custom deal stages per order, two-way updates, or strict rules for merging duplicate contacts. Run the connector for a month, list what is missing, and scope custom work from that list. HubSpot is among the integrations WavX names.

Which third-party systems does WavX Solutions integrate with Shopify?

The integrations WavX names for Shopify are Razorpay and UPI for payments, Shiprocket and Delhivery for shipping, Tally and other ERP systems, Zoho CRM, Klaviyo, GA4, the WhatsApp Business API and Shopify Functions. Across its wider work it also names Stripe, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Twilio, SendGrid, Google Tag Manager, and Meta Pixel with Conversions API. Systems outside that list are connected through their APIs via a custom app, after the API and data flows are reviewed in discovery.

shopify ups usps live shipping rates at checkout setup

Live UPS and USPS rates at checkout need two things: carrier-calculated shipping enabled on your Shopify plan, and accurate weights and box dimensions on every product. Connect your carrier accounts so negotiated rates apply, define your default packages, and set which services to offer in each zone. Wrong weights are the usual reason quoted rates differ from the label cost. Whether your plan includes carrier-calculated rates is worth confirming with Shopify before building the shipping setup around it.

sync shopify inventory with amazon flipkart myntra

Stock is synced across Shopify and Indian marketplaces through one system that acts as the master, either a multichannel order-management tool or a custom integration. Every sale on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra or the website reduces the master count, which is then pushed back to all channels. The details that prevent overselling are speed of the update, a buffer on low-stock items, and consistent SKU codes everywhere. Decide early whether Shopify, your warehouse system or the order-management tool is the master.

Can customers pay with M-Pesa on a Shopify store?

M-Pesa can be accepted on Shopify through a payment gateway that supports it, not through Shopify directly. Several African gateways offer a Shopify integration where the customer chooses M-Pesa at checkout and approves a prompt on their phone, and the order is marked paid automatically. The weaker alternative is a manual method where customers send money to a till number and staff confirm each payment by hand. For a Kenyan store, also check settlement in KES and card acceptance from the same provider.

shopify nigeria accept naira paystack flutterwave

A Nigerian Shopify store takes naira through a local gateway such as Paystack or Flutterwave, added as a payment provider, which gives customers cards, bank transfer and USSD at checkout. Set the store currency to NGN so prices and settlement match. If you also sell to customers abroad, check how the gateway handles foreign cards and whether you want a second currency through Shopify Markets. Gateway approval needs business registration documents, so apply early; development cannot speed that step up.

shopify malaysia fpx touch n go payment setup

FPX online banking and e-wallets such as Touch 'n Go are added to a Malaysian Shopify store through a local payment gateway that supports them, alongside cards. Customers pick their bank or wallet at checkout and approve the payment in their banking app. Choose a gateway that settles in MYR, appears in Shopify's provider list for Malaysia and offers the instalment or pay-later options your shoppers use. Check the checkout wording in both Bahasa Malaysia and English before launch.

How do I accept GCash and cash on delivery on Shopify in the Philippines?

GCash is accepted through a Philippine payment gateway connected to Shopify, and cash on delivery is switched on as a manual payment method in the store's payment settings. The gateway usually brings Maya, cards and online banking with it. For COD, agree with your courier how cash is collected and remitted, limit it by area or order value if refusals are a problem, and confirm orders by SMS or chat before dispatch. Prices and settlement should be in PHP.

We're a Portuguese cosmetics brand planning to sell into Brazil from our Shopify store. I'm told Brazilian shoppers expect Pix and paying in instalments. Can Shopify handle that, and what else is different about checkout there?

Shopify can take Pix and card instalments, but only through a Brazilian payment gateway that supports them, so the provider is the first decision. Pix shows a QR code or copy-and-paste key and confirms within seconds; instalments let the shopper split a card payment across months. Brazilian checkouts also collect a CPF tax number and use a local address format with a postcode lookup. Prices should be in BRL, and Brazilian Portuguese differs enough from European Portuguese to need its own translation.

shopify payment gateway south africa payfast instant eft

South African Shopify stores usually run a local gateway such as PayFast, Yoco or Peach Payments, which brings cards, instant EFT and wallet options and settles in rand. Instant EFT matters because many shoppers prefer paying straight from their bank account to using a card. Pick the gateway on which methods it offers through Shopify, how fast it pays out and how refunds are handled. Add a pay-later option if your category uses one, and keep the store currency in ZAR.

razorpay payment successful but order not created in shopify

This happens when the customer pays but the browser never returns to Shopify, for example after closing the UPI app, losing signal or a slow redirect, so Shopify never hears that the payment succeeded. The money sits captured in Razorpay with no order. Check the abandoned checkouts in Shopify against captured payments in the Razorpay dashboard, and create or refund those orders. To prevent repeats, enable the gateway's webhook-based order confirmation and its automatic refund setting for unmatched payments.

what are shopify metafields used for

Metafields are custom fields you add to products, variants, collections, customers, orders and other records to hold information Shopify has no standard place for. Typical uses are material and dimensions, care instructions, ingredient lists, size charts, warranty terms, a downloadable manual, or a list of matching products. Each metafield has a type, such as text, number, file or reference, so the theme can display it properly and filters can use it. They keep structured data out of the description box.

We sell furniture and each product needs dimensions, material, care instructions, an assembly PDF and a 'pairs well with' list. Right now it's all pasted into the product description. How should this be structured in Shopify so the theme can show it in tabs and use it in filters?

Move each item into its own typed metafield: dimension fields for width, depth and height, a text or list field for material, rich text for care, a file field for the assembly PDF and a product-reference list for the pairs-well-with items. The theme then reads those fields into tabs, and material and size become collection filters. If care instructions repeat across many products, store them once as metaobjects and reference them. Load the data by spreadsheet import or API instead of retyping.

show delivery date by pincode on shopify product page

A pincode delivery estimate needs a live check against your courier's serviceability data, so it is built with an app or a small custom app, not with theme settings alone. The shopper enters a pincode, the app asks the courier or aggregator such as Shiprocket or Delhivery whether it delivers there and how long it takes, and the page shows the date and whether COD is available. Dispatch time per product can be stored in a metafield and added to the courier's estimate.

why is my shopify store slow on mobile

Mobile slowness on Shopify nearly always comes from the theme and what is loaded into it, since hosting is Shopify's job and not something you can tune. The common causes are oversized images, too many app scripts running on every page, chat and popup widgets loading before the content, heavy sliders and video in the first screen, custom fonts, and leftover code from apps you removed. Test on a mid-range phone over mobile data, not on office Wi-Fi, to see what shoppers experience.

I uninstalled a bunch of Shopify apps but my store is still slow — why?

Uninstalling an app does not always remove the code it added to your theme. Older apps in particular leave snippets, script tags and stylesheet links behind in the theme files, and those keep loading on every page even though the app is gone. A developer can search the theme for leftover references, check which app embeds are still switched on in the theme editor, and remove what no longer does anything. Take a duplicate of the theme first so the cleanup can be undone.

Our Shopify store sells sarees, mostly to mobile shoppers in tier-2 cities who arrive from Instagram ads. Product pages have 8–10 large images, a size-guide popup, a reviews widget, a WhatsApp chat bubble and a spin-the-wheel popup. Pages take ages on 4G. What should we fix first?

Fix the images first, then the widgets. Serve each image at the size the phone needs, load only the first one immediately and the rest as the shopper scrolls. Next, delay the WhatsApp bubble, spin-the-wheel and reviews scripts until the page is usable or the shopper scrolls to them; none of them needs to load before the product photo. Then remove scripts from unused apps. Measure on a mid-range Android phone on 4G, because that is what your Instagram traffic uses.

shopify speed optimisation service cost what affects it

WavX has no published price for Shopify speed optimisation; it quotes after looking at the store, sized to your budget. The factors are the number of page templates, how many apps and tracking scripts need auditing, whether the theme is custom or a heavily edited bought one, image and video handling, and whether the fix is cleanup or a partial rebuild of slow templates. Starting with the slowest templates, often home, collection and product, keeps the first piece of work small. The price is open to discussion; send the store URL to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

Does WavX Solutions guarantee a specific Shopify speed score or Core Web Vitals result?

No score is guaranteed. Parts of a Shopify page are outside any developer's control, including Shopify's own platform code and the scripts third-party apps and ad pixels load, so a promised number would not be honest. What can be agreed in writing is a measured baseline, the list of fixes, and a before-and-after report on the same pages and devices. Store speed and Core Web Vitals optimisation is a listed WavX Shopify service; the specific commitments sit in the scope, so ask at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

ga4 shopify setup purchase event not just page views

Set GA4 up through Shopify's Google channel app or through Google Tag Manager loaded as a custom pixel, never both. A complete setup sends view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout and purchase, with value, currency, items and a transaction ID on the purchase so duplicates can be filtered. Place a test order and watch it arrive in GA4's DebugView. Then compare a week of GA4 purchases with Shopify orders; a small gap from ad blockers and consent refusals is normal, a large one means something is misfiring.

Meta Ads Manager reports 140 purchases last week but Shopify shows 96 orders from all sources. We have the Meta channel app installed, and our old agency also pasted pixel code into the theme. What's causing the gap and how do we fix it without losing our pixel history?

The double setup is the likely cause: the channel app and the pasted theme code both fire a purchase event, so some orders are counted twice. Meta also credits purchases to ads within its attribution window, which never matches Shopify exactly, but not by 44 orders. Remove the hand-pasted pixel code from the theme and keep the channel app, which sends browser and Conversions API events with a shared ID so Meta can de-duplicate. Keep the same pixel ID and your history stays intact.

what is conversions api and do i need it with meta pixel on shopify

The Conversions API sends purchase and other events to Meta from the server instead of the shopper's browser. You need it alongside the pixel because browsers, ad blockers and cookie restrictions stop a share of pixel events from arriving, which leaves Meta optimising on incomplete data. Run both together: each event carries a shared ID so Meta counts it once. On Shopify, the Meta channel app sets up both when data sharing is switched to its fuller setting.

After a theme change last month, GA4 on our Shopify store shows purchases at roughly half of actual orders, and Google Ads conversions dropped the same day. Nothing else changed. Where do I look?

Look at where the tracking code lived. If the old theme had Google Tag Manager or gtag snippets pasted into its files, they did not move to the new theme, so part of your tracking vanished on the day of the switch. Check the theme code for the container, the Google channel app's connection, and the custom pixels in Shopify's customer events settings, where checkout tracking belongs. Place a test order with GA4 DebugView open. The fix is one clean setup that does not depend on theme files.

Does WavX Solutions set up GA4, Meta Pixel and Conversions API on Shopify stores?

Analytics, tracking and conversion setup is a listed part of WavX's Shopify service, and GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and the Conversions API are all integrations the company names. On a Shopify store that means purchase and funnel events configured once, checked against real test orders, and de-duplicated between browser and server. WavX also runs performance marketing, including server-side tracking, so the setup is built with ad platforms in mind and not only reporting.

shopify sales tax setup for multiple states

Shopify calculates US sales tax automatically once you tell it which states you are registered to collect in. The work is deciding those states: you owe tax where you have a physical presence or where your sales pass that state's economic threshold, and that judgement belongs with your accountant. Then add each registration in Shopify's tax settings, mark exempt products and customers, and check that shipping is taxed the way each state requires. Shopify collects the tax; filing returns is still your job or a tax app's.

Can my Shopify theme be made accessible so I'm less exposed to ADA complaints?

A Shopify theme can be built to follow WCAG guidelines, which is the benchmark ADA complaints against online stores usually cite. The work covers colour contrast, full keyboard operation, visible focus states, labelled form fields, alt text, and menus, popups and cart drawers that screen readers can use. App widgets often break accessibility and need checking one by one, and overlay plugins do not fix underlying code. WavX designs with WCAG in mind but does not certify compliance; legal sign-off stays with your own advisers.

is it safe to hire a shopify developer in india from the usa

It is safe when the setup protects you regardless of who the developer is. Keep the Shopify store, domain and payment accounts in your name and give the developer collaborator access, never your owner login. Have work done on a duplicate theme, code kept in a repository you control, and payments tied to milestones you have seen demonstrated. Get the scope in writing. With WavX the client owns the code outright; the trade-off for a US client is time zone, with overlap limited to early morning Eastern or evening Pacific.

What is Shopify Markets and do I need it to sell in other countries?

Shopify Markets is the part of Shopify that lets one store sell to several countries, each with its own currency, prices, languages, domain or subfolder, and tax and duty settings. You do not need it to accept an occasional foreign order, since any store can ship abroad. You need it once you want shoppers in another country to see local prices, pay in their currency and read the store in their language without running a second store.

sell from india to usa and uk on shopify currency and payments

An Indian Shopify store can sell to the US and UK from the same store by adding those countries as markets with USD and GBP pricing. The two things to arrange first are payments and shipping: your gateway must have international payments enabled, which involves extra verification of your business, and you need a courier with export service and clear duty handling. Set fixed foreign prices instead of raw conversions, state who pays import duties, and write a returns policy that is realistic for overseas orders.

Can a Shopify store show Arabic and English properly, with the layout flipped right to left?

A Shopify store can run in Arabic and English with a language switcher, and the Arabic version can read right to left, provided the theme is built for it. Translation is handled through Shopify's language settings; the layout flip is theme work, covering menus, sliders, icons, product grids, the cart and form fields. Checkout is translated by Shopify. Details to test are mixed Arabic and English text, numerals, prices in AED, and emails and invoices in the customer's language.

I own a niche perfume brand in Dubai selling through Instagram and WhatsApp. I want a Shopify store live before Ramadan that sells to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in their own currencies, in Arabic and English. It's about ten weeks away. Is that doable, and what should I lock down first?

Ten weeks is doable for a perfume catalogue if you lock three things in the first fortnight: the design, the Arabic content, and payment gateway applications for each country, because approvals run on the providers' clock. One store with Shopify Markets can price in AED, SAR and KWD. Keep launch scope to a bilingual theme, payments, shipping and tracking, and hold extras for after Ramadan. WavX's day is 8:30 AM–5:30 PM UAE time, so reviews happen in your working hours. Start at /contact.

shopify markets vs separate stores for each country

Use one store with Shopify Markets when the catalogue, brand and operations are largely the same across countries and only currency, language, prices and duties differ. Use separate stores when countries need different products, different stock held in different warehouses, separate teams, different payment and tax setups, or sharply different promotions. One store means one theme, one app bill and one set of data. Separate stores give full independence at the price of duplicated work and stock that has to be synced.

shopify store in japanese for japan market konbini payment address format

Selling in Japan through Shopify needs more than translation. Shoppers expect convenience-store (konbini) payment and local wallets next to cards, which come from a payment provider that supports them. Addresses run from postcode to prefecture to street, names may need a phonetic reading field, and delivery-time-slot selection is a common expectation. Use native Japanese copy and a font chosen for Japanese text, price in JPY with tax-inclusive display, and have a native speaker review product pages and emails before launch.

Does my Shopify store need to be in French for customers in Quebec, and how is that set up?

If you sell to customers in Quebec, the store should be available in French; Quebec's language law expects businesses serving the province to offer their commercial websites in French, and your adviser can confirm how it applies to you. On Shopify, add Canadian French as a language, translate products, menus, policies, emails and checkout text, and show a language switcher. Use Canadian French, not European French, and check that apps, popups and transactional messages are translated too, since those are the pieces usually missed.

We sell phone accessories from Singapore on Shopify and want to expand to Malaysia and Indonesia without opening new stores. Different currencies, some Bahasa content, and local payment methods in each. What's the right structure, and what tends to go wrong?

Use one store with three markets: Singapore in SGD, Malaysia in MYR and Indonesia in IDR, with Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia treated as separate translations. Add each country's local payment methods through gateways that support them. What goes wrong is usually pricing and fulfilment: auto-converted prices look odd, shipping from Singapore makes small orders uneconomic, and duties surprise buyers. Set fixed local prices and clear delivery terms per market. WavX's day runs 12:30 PM–9:30 PM Singapore time, so afternoons overlap.

shopify nz store selling to australia separate store or markets

For a New Zealand brand adding Australia, one store with an Australian market is usually enough: AUD prices, Australian GST settings, local shipping rates and Australian payment options. Open a separate Australian store only if you hold stock there with different availability, run different promotions, or want a .com.au site managed by its own team. The tax point to settle with your accountant is whether you must register for Australian GST, since that affects how prices are displayed and charged.

Can my Shopify store be in Hindi as well as English?

A Shopify store can run in Hindi and English, with shoppers switching language from the header. Shopify's language settings hold the translations for products, menus, policies, notifications and checkout. The theme needs a font that renders Devanagari cleanly and layouts that allow for longer text. The real effort is content: translating every product properly, and keeping it updated as the catalogue changes. Start with the home page, main categories and highest-selling products, and expand once you see Hindi sessions converting.

I'm a non-technical founder choosing between Shopify and a custom-built store for a made-to-order furniture brand. Each product has dozens of fabric and size options with different prices, and delivery dates depend on our workshop schedule. Which way would you go, and why?

Go with Shopify plus a custom configurator app, unless the configurator is the whole product. Shopify covers the catalogue, checkout, payments and order handling well, and being non-technical you benefit from not running servers. Its weak spots for you are the cap on variants per product and per-option pricing, which a custom app solves by building the chosen configuration and price into the cart, and workshop scheduling, which the same app can handle. Choose a fully custom store only if those rules keep growing. WavX builds both; describe your product rules at /contact.

If I build on Shopify, am I locked in, or can I leave later and take my data?

Your data can leave; your storefront cannot. Products, customers and orders export from Shopify as spreadsheets or through the API, and they belong to you. What stays behind is the theme, which is written in Shopify's Liquid language, the apps, the checkout and customer passwords, and your URLs will change on another platform, so redirects are needed. Leaving Shopify is therefore a rebuild of the front end with your data intact, the same as migrating between any two platforms.

Can WavX Solutions move a store off Shopify onto a custom-built platform?

Custom e-commerce development is one of WavX's services, covering storefronts, cart and checkout, B2B portals, inventory and order management, so a move off Shopify is within what it builds. Products, customers and orders are exported and loaded into the new system, URLs are redirected, and payment, courier and accounting integrations are rebuilt. Whether leaving is worthwhile is assessed first, since a custom app or Shopify Plus sometimes solves the problem. WavX builds your own software, fully custom, with a pricing model that fits you; start at /contact.

can shopify handle 50000 skus large catalogue

Shopify can run a catalogue of 50,000 SKUs; the platform is not the weak point at that size, the workflows around it are. Bulk imports and price updates must go through the API or bulk tools instead of manual edits, collection pages need sensible filtering and search, and integrations have to respect Shopify's API throttling so a full sync does not take all night. Variant structure matters too, since there is a cap on variants per product. Plan the data model before loading anything.

How do I know when my brand has outgrown Shopify?

You have outgrown Shopify when you keep paying to work around the same limit. The signs are several apps stacked to imitate one feature, pricing or checkout rules the platform will not allow, staff doing manual work because the data model does not fit your operations, and platform plus app fees approaching what owning your own system would cost. Before leaving, test the cheaper steps: a custom app, Shopify Plus, or a headless front end. Many brands that feel stuck need one of those, not a new platform.

We're a D2C nutrition brand in Bengaluru doing roughly 25,000 orders a month on Shopify with 14 apps. Our pain points are COD return-to-origin logic, subscription renewals over UPI, and routing orders across warehouses in three cities. Our CTO wants to rebuild everything custom. What would you move off Shopify and what would you keep?

Keep Shopify for catalogue, checkout and payments, and move your three pain points into services you own. Order routing across three warehouses, COD risk rules and UPI mandate billing are all logic that sits behind the store and can run as one custom back end connected by API, replacing several of the 14 apps. That fixes the problems without rebuilding what already works at 25,000 orders a month. A full rebuild makes sense only if checkout control or platform fees become the real constraint. WavX builds such back ends fully custom; write to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

What are the hard limits of Shopify that custom development cannot work around?

A few limits are fixed whatever a developer does. The checkout engine is Shopify's and cannot be replaced or self-hosted, only extended within what each plan allows. URL patterns such as /products/ and /collections/ cannot be changed. There is no direct database access, so everything goes through throttled APIs. Theme code cannot run server-side logic of its own, and there is a cap on variants per product. Most other gaps can be closed with a custom app, Shopify Functions or a headless front end.

shopify maintenance what does shopify handle and what is left to me

Shopify handles hosting, security patches, platform updates and uptime; everything specific to your store is left to you. That means theme fixes and small changes, checking that app updates have not broken anything, removing unused apps and code, watching speed, verifying that tracking and checkout still record orders correctly, monitoring integrations with couriers, ERP or accounting, and preparing the store for sales. WavX's post-launch support covers that side: monitoring, security updates, feature enhancements and emergency help.

Do I really need a developer on retainer after my Shopify store is live?

Not every store does. A small store on a stable theme with a handful of apps can run for months with no developer and pay for fixes as they arise. A retainer starts to make sense when the store has custom code or integrations that can fail quietly, when marketing wants new landing pages and tests every month, or when a broken checkout for a few hours would cost real money. The test is how often you need changes and what an outage costs you.

shopify maintenance charges monthly india

WavX has no fixed monthly Shopify maintenance charge; it is quoted from the work involved and sized to your budget. For reference, a Shopify build starts at ₹25,000 for a template setup, and WavX's cost model puts maintenance at 15–25% of the build cost per year. The monthly figure moves with the hours of changes you expect, how many integrations and custom apps need watching, whether you want help on standby during sales, and the state of the theme code. A time-and-materials arrangement suits a quiet store. Discuss the figure at /contact.

Our Shopify store was built eight months ago. Since then a theme update wiped a custom section, an app update broke the cart drawer, and a discount stacked wrongly during a sale. Nobody owns the store day to day. What should a maintenance arrangement cover so this stops?

All three incidents come from changes going live untested, so the arrangement should centre on change control. Keep the theme in version control with a duplicate theme for testing, so updates are reviewed before publishing. Check app updates on that copy. Before every sale, test discount combinations with real carts. Add a monthly check of checkout, tracking and speed, a log of what changed and when, and one named contact for urgent problems. WavX's post-launch support covers monitoring, updates, enhancements and emergency help.

Does WavX Solutions offer emergency support if a Shopify checkout or integration breaks after launch?

Emergency help is part of the post-launch maintenance WavX describes, together with monitoring, security updates and feature enhancements. WavX does not publish response-time commitments, so how fast an urgent issue is picked up, and whether cover extends beyond its Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM IST working hours, is agreed in the written maintenance scope. Ask for those terms before signing, at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in, especially if your store runs sales outside Indian business hours.

Who actually owns my Shopify store if an agency sets it up for me?

You own it if the Shopify account is in your name, with your email as store owner and your card on the billing. The agency should work as a collaborator or staff account that you can remove at any time. The same rule applies to the domain, the payment gateway and the analytics and ad accounts: registered to your business, with the agency invited in. Check this on day one; a store created under an agency's own email is the root of most ownership disputes.

developer wont give shopify store access what can i do

If the store is in your name, remove the developer's access yourself; if it is in theirs, you need a written transfer request and, failing that, Shopify Support. As store owner you can log in, delete their staff or collaborator access and change passwords, and they cannot stop you. Where the developer created the store under their own email, Shopify Support will want proof that the business, domain and billing are yours. Secure the domain registrar and payment gateway logins at the same time.

I run a small branding agency in London. Clients keep asking for Shopify builds and I have no developers. I want a white-label partner who works under NDA and never contacts my clients directly. How would that work with WavX, and would the hours line up?

WavX does white-label, NDA-friendly work for agencies, so the arrangement you describe is a normal one. You hand over the Figma design and brief; WavX builds the custom Shopify theme or app; you present it to your client. The store stays in the client's Shopify account with collaborator access, and code ownership passes through you to them. WavX's day is 4:30 AM–1:30 PM GMT, or 5:30 AM–2:30 PM in British Summer Time, giving shared mornings. Terms are set in a written scope; start at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

My freelancer built a custom app for my Shopify store two years ago and has now stopped responding. The app still runs, but I have no idea where the code lives or who pays for the server. How do I find out what I have and get control of it?

Start in your Shopify admin: the apps section shows the custom app, its permissions and the URL it calls, and that URL reveals where it is hosted. Then check your own card and email for a cloud or hosting bill; if there is none, the freelancer's account is paying and the app can stop without warning. Ask in writing for the repository and hosting to be transferred. If nothing comes back, a developer can document what the app does from its behaviour and rebuild it under your accounts.

What should I ask my old Shopify developer to hand over before we part ways?

Ask for seven things: the theme's source files or repository, the code and hosting login for any custom app, a list of installed apps with who pays for each, API keys and access tokens so they can be replaced, admin access to GA4, Tag Manager and ad accounts, the domain and DNS login, and a short note on what was customised and why. Then remove their collaborator access yourself. A handover that takes an hour now saves weeks when the next developer starts.

How does WavX Solutions take over a Shopify store built by another developer?

Taking over an existing store starts with an audit; WavX has not published a fixed procedure beyond that, but ongoing maintenance is part of its Shopify service. The audit covers how far the theme has been modified, installed apps and leftover scripts, custom apps and where they are hosted, tracking, integrations, and who holds which logins. Ownership of the store, domain and code should end with the client, and developers on collaborator access. Terms are set in a written scope; send the store URL to buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

Why do so many customers drop off at my Shopify checkout when they choose UPI?

UPI drop-off usually happens in the hand-off between the checkout and the UPI app. The common causes are a collect request the customer never sees or approves in time, Instagram's or Facebook's in-app browser failing to open the UPI app, a redirect back that breaks, and bank-side failures at busy hours. Ask your gateway for success rates by method, enable the flow that opens the UPI app directly, and send a payment-retry link by WhatsApp or SMS when a payment fails.

Does WavX Solutions build Shopify stores for Australian brands, and how are quotes handled in AUD?

Yes, WavX is remote-first and works with Australian Shopify brands. Its published prices give a starting point: a basic template setup from ₹25,000 (range ₹25,000–₹75,000, roughly A$450–1,400) and a custom-designed store from ₹1,50,000 (roughly A$2,700–8,100 across its range). The quote itself is built in INR, and AUD figures are approximate conversions. Starting on a template and moving to custom later keeps the first spend low, and the figure is negotiable. WavX's day is 2:30 PM–11:30 PM AEST, or 3:30 PM–12:30 AM in daylight saving. Enquiries: buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

What time-zone overlap does WavX Solutions have with Shopify clients in the UAE?

The overlap is a full working day: WavX's hours of 10:00 AM–7:00 PM IST, Monday to Saturday, are 8:30 AM–5:30 PM in the UAE. A Dubai or Abu Dhabi merchant can hold design reviews, demos and launch-day checks inside normal office hours, with no early or late calls. Saturday is also a working day for WavX. The shared hours matter most around a launch or a sale, when both sides need to be online together to test checkout and payments. Contact is by email at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

My Shopify developer would be in India and I'm in Brisbane — when could we actually talk during the day?

From Brisbane you would have the afternoon and evening: WavX's working day of 10:00 AM–7:00 PM IST is 2:30 PM–11:30 PM Queensland time all year, since Brisbane does not change its clocks. In practice that means calls and demos between mid-afternoon and the end of your day, with written updates waiting each morning. A problem raised in your morning falls before the Indian working day begins, so agree in the scope how out-of-hours issues are handled.

shopify developer dubai vs hiring agency in india

A Dubai developer gives you in-person meetings and local market familiarity; an Indian agency generally costs less for the same build and still shares your working day. The things that should decide it are neither: check live stores each has built, experience with Arabic right-to-left themes and Gulf payment gateways, who owns the code, and what support follows launch. WavX works from Gurgaon, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM UAE time, builds custom Liquid themes and apps, and hands over full code ownership. Quotes follow a free consultation at /contact.

I run a clothing brand in Nairobi and sell through Instagram and WhatsApp, taking M-Pesa payments by hand. I want a real online store but I'm not technical, and local quotes vary wildly. Is Shopify right for me, and does it make sense to use a team in India?

Shopify suits your case: it removes hosting and security from your plate and lets you manage products from a phone. The piece to get right is M-Pesa through a gateway that confirms payment automatically, so you stop matching messages by hand, with prices in KES. Quotes vary because some include design, product upload and tracking and others do not; ask each for a written list. An Indian team is practical: WavX's hours are 7:30 AM–4:30 PM Nairobi time, a full-day overlap. Reach it at buildwith@wavxsolutions.in.

We're a Lagos fashion label. Half our buyers are in Nigeria paying in naira and half are diaspora customers in the UK and US who want to pay in pounds or dollars. Can one Shopify store do both, and how should payments be arranged?

One Shopify store can serve both groups using markets: Nigeria priced in NGN, and the UK and US priced in GBP and USD. Payments are the part to design carefully. A Nigerian gateway handles naira cards, transfers and USSD; for foreign customers you need a provider that accepts international cards and settles in a currency you can actually receive. Set fixed foreign prices so exchange-rate swings do not reprice your catalogue daily, and state shipping times and duties clearly for each market.

I run a modest-fashion brand in Kuala Lumpur and our biggest season is the run-up to Hari Raya. We want to move from a marketplace-only business to our own Shopify store in Bahasa Malaysia and English with FPX and e-wallets. How early do we need to start to be ready?

Start early enough that the store has been live and taking orders for several weeks before your Raya campaign begins, not finishing during it. The sequence is design, bilingual content, theme build, FPX and e-wallet gateway approval, shipping setup, then test orders and tracking checks. Gateway approval and translated content are the usual delays. WavX publishes 4–6 weeks for a typical simple website, with custom work taking longer, and its hours are 12:30 PM–9:30 PM Malaysian time, so afternoon calls work. Start at /contact.

We're an outdoor-gear brand in Toronto on Shopify, priced in CAD. About a third of our traffic is American and those shoppers leave when they see Canadian prices and unclear duties. How do we sell properly to the US from the same store?

Add the United States as a market in the same store, with USD prices set by you instead of converted daily, so American shoppers see dollars from the first page through checkout. State clearly who pays duties and taxes on cross-border parcels, and show delivery times from Canada or from a US fulfilment partner. Check that your payment setup settles USD without double conversion. A US-facing domain or subfolder helps search engines send American visitors to the right version.

shopify gst inclusive prices australia but overseas customers

Set the store so prices include tax, which shows Australian shoppers GST-inclusive prices as they expect. For overseas customers, Shopify can either keep the same shelf price regardless of destination or remove the GST component so foreign buyers are not charged Australian tax, and you choose which per market. Check an overseas test order to confirm no GST appears on it, that duties are described clearly, and that your invoices show GST only on domestic sales. Your accountant should confirm the treatment.

We're an Indian home decor brand on Shopify expecting about five times our normal traffic during our Diwali sale, with flat discounts, a free gift over ₹2,999 and COD allowed. Last year we oversold stock and discount codes stacked. What should we test and lock down in the two weeks before?

Test discounts and stock first, since those failed last year. Build real carts and try every combination of the flat discount, the free gift above ₹2,999 and any codes, and set which discounts may combine. Confirm inventory sync speed with your warehouse and switch off overselling. Then check COD limits, courier capacity for your main pincodes, and that purchase tracking fires. Freeze theme and app changes a week before the sale. Shopify handles the traffic itself; the risks are in your own rules and integrations.

shopify store kaise banaye

Shopify store banane ke liye Shopify pe account banaiye, ek theme chuniye, products ki photo, price aur stock daaliye, phir payment gateway aur shipping rates set karke apna domain jod dijiye. Shopify ka monthly kharcha dene ke baad bhi developer ki zaroorat padti hai kya?

Roz ke kaam ke liye nahi padti; product daalna, order dekhna aur discount lagana aap Shopify admin se khud kar sakte ho. Developer tab chahiye jab theme ka design badalna ho, store slow chal raha ho, koi feature kisi app se na mil raha ho, ya tracking aur payment setup mein dikkat ho. Kai brands launch ke waqt ek baar kaam karwate hain aur phir zaroorat padne pe hi bulate hain. WavX Shopify stores ka maintenance bhi karta hai.

shopify chhod ke apni website pe jana ho to data milega kya

Milega; Shopify se products, customers aur orders ka data CSV file ya API ke through export ho jata hai. Jo saath nahi aata woh theme ka design aur Shopify apps ke andar bana kaam hai, woh nayi website pe dobara banana padta hai. Shift karte waqt purane page links ko naye links pe redirect karna zaroori hai, warna Google ki ranking gir sakti hai. Customer passwords transfer nahi hote, unhe dobara set karwana padta hai. WavX custom stores banata hai aur SEO migration aur redirects ka kaam bhi karta hai.

Meesho aur Instagram pe bechta hoon, Shopify store banane se kya fayda hoga?

Shopify store se aapko apna ek pakka address milta hai jahan customer bina DM kiye seedha order aur payment kar sake. Instagram pe har order ke liye chat, payment screenshot aur address lena padta hai; store mein yeh sab apne aap hota hai aur stock bhi khud ghatta hai. Meesho pe customer Meesho ka hota hai, apne store pe customer ka number aur order history aapke paas rehti hai, jisse dobara bechna aasaan hota hai. Instagram tab bhi traffic ka zariya bana rehta hai.

Mera skincare brand Shopify pe hai aur mahine ke 300 orders aate hain. Ab subscription aur loyalty points add karna chahta hoon. Yeh Shopify app se ho jayega ya custom banwana padega?

300 orders ke level pe pehle ready Shopify apps aazmaiye; subscription aur points dono ke liye apps milte hain aur jaldi lag jate hain. Custom tab banwaiye jab app ke rules aapke kaam ke na hon, jaise points ka online aur offline dono jagah chalna, apne hisaab ki expiry, ya app ki monthly fees orders ke saath bahut badh rahi ho. Custom private app mein rules aapke hote hain aur data aapke paas rehta hai. WavX private Shopify apps aur loyalty systems dono banata hai.
