Research and reference data

This section publishes figures other people can check and cite. There are two kinds: WavX's own planning model, shown with the arithmetic behind each number, and third-party data, each figure linked to the publisher and dated. Nothing here is a survey of WavX clients, and nothing is presented as more precise than its source.

How these pages are produced

  • WavX's own figures come from one published cost model, the same one behind the free calculators. Each page shows the inputs and the sum, so a reader can redo it. The model is a set of planning prices, not a record of past projects, and the methodology page says exactly what it does and does not cover.
  • Third-party figures are linked to the organisation that published them, with the date the page was read and the year the figure refers to. Figures from aggregators and blogs are not used.
  • Corrections are made in place, with the page's "last updated" date changed.

If you cite a figure from these pages, cite the page and its date, because planning prices and third-party figures both change.

What is here and what is not

The first page is the India Software Development Cost Index, which sets out WavX's planning figures for common types of build, worked through from the published model. Further reference pages are added only when there is data behind them that can be shown. WavX does not publish figures it cannot trace.
